Folders
Group features in folders in the editor, set which are drawn on top, and let visitors hide them.
squidmaps is in beta. Features, the map spec and these docs may change without notice, and things may occasionally break. Export a copy of any map that matters to you, and tell us when something isn't right: use Beta feedback, or email [email protected].
In progress: This guide is being written. It outlines what it will cover.
Folders
Folders organize the editor’s list of features, so a big map stays easy to work on. Visitors don’t see them on the published map unless you turn on its feature list (below).
Group features into folders in the left panel, one level deep. Drag features and folders to reorder them: features higher in the list draw on top. Hiding a folder hides everything in it while you edit; the published map shows every feature until a visitor hides it there.
The list has two parts. Points and text come first, as they’re always drawn above lines, areas and images, which come second. Each part has its own order and its own folders: a folder holds one kind or the other. Images go anywhere among lines and areas, so a line listed above an image is drawn over it.
If an imported folder has both kinds, it shows in both parts under the same name.
Folders on the published map
Turn on Feature list under Map panel in Map settings, and visitors get a list of your features under the map’s description, grouped by folder. Each folder has a checkbox to hide its features on the map, like the layers in other map tools. A folder that’s in both parts of the list shows once.
Folders in imported data
Features that name a folder in @folder go into it when they’re imported.
