Some views are so loved that London plans around them. The London View Management Framework protects vistas towards the city's most important landmarks: within the orange corridors, new development must not spoil the view.

How to read this map: blue points are public viewing places, orange points are the protected landmarks, and each orange area is an official Landmark Viewing Corridor published by the GLA. The dashed cream lines are illustrative sightlines, drawn straight from viewpoint to landmark. The longest corridor runs 16 km from King Henry's Mound in Richmond Park, where the dome of St Paul's is still framed through a gap in the trees, three centuries after the vista was created.

Day 4 of the #30DayMapChallenge: Senses - Sight.

Corridor geometry: Greater London Authority, LVMF protected vistas GIS files (London Datastore), digitised from coordinates in the LVMF Supplementary Planning Guidance. Sightlines are illustrative, not official.
